Eardisley Festival 2011
Well, what a success and on so many levels. First the weather: the rain stopped just as the first visitors arrived and stayed away, until just before closing time on the last day! Second the visitors: they were impressed with the organisation and the welcome they received. They all seemed to thoroughly enjoyed themselves and went away happy, some asking “when is your next festival??” Third the finances: at the time of writing we appear to have raised a similar amount to the 2008 festival (well over £14,000) which is frankly astounding. Why? Well this was a three day event not four and we are in the middle of a recession when people just do not have as much to spend.
Of course none of the above could be achieved without a huge amount of effort and hard work from the community. THANK YOU to the teams at the church, churchyard and chapel; to those at the school with their displays, demonstrations, exhibitions and refreshments; to the stalwarts on catering who seemed to work for ever; to the many stall holders offering such a wide range of goods and attractions; to those providing refreshments and those opening their gardens; to the day time activities in and around the dairy house marquee; to the evening performers young and old who did so well; to those providing the Saturday hog roast; to the taxi drivers so enjoyed by those needing assistance; to those giving parking space for cars and coaches and to everyone who responded to our call for scarecrows. So many people working so hard, you know who you are, the festival is nothing without you, thank you all.
Eardisley Festival Review
There will be an Open Meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday 29th September to review the 2011 Festival results, discuss the things that went well and those that could be improved. Everyone is invited please come along and hear in detail how we did and some of the comments we have received from visitors since the festival. Tea and biscuits as an added incentive!
Scarecrows
Everyone involved in the festival will smile at the memory of the scarecrows. They cheered us, and showed people travelling through Eardisley that something special was happening! Here are a few of them. More Festival Photos will be available soon.
